Dr. Jeffrey R. Bartel

     Jeffrey Bartel was born on May 10, 1973 and grew up with his family in the city of Taunton, Massachusetts. It was in Taunton where Jeffrey started to develop into an extraordinary young man, constantly surrounded by his loving family and making lifelong friends as he grew. He attended Taunton Public Schools and excelled in academics as well as sports. He played baseball, basketball, golf and football in both youth and school programs resulting in leadership roles as captain of several teams. He graduated with honors and went on to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Science and Applied Mathematics at Union College in Schenectady, New York—where he also played football for the Union Dutchmen.

     Although his business aptitude was excellent, his desire to help others won out and he decided to continue his education by enrolling in dental school. He attended the Boston University College of Dental Medicine and graduated in June of 2000 with a doctorate degree in general dentistry. In 2002 he opened his 1st dental practice and began to plant his roots in the Taunton area with plans of giving back to the community abundantly. Dr. Jeff enjoyed the type of success rarely attained in a lifetime much less by the tender age of thirty. On May 16, 2003 we lost this wonderful person in a tragic car accident. He was a son, brother, grandson, fiancé, friend, doctor, student, teacher, community leader, and athlete. We will never forget how he touched our lives and his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

     In honor of Dr. Jeff's memory, and his pursuit of excellence, we have founded a scholarship to be given to a Taunton High School student in effort to help defray the increasing cost of tuition and to facilitate their dreams of higher education. This memorial fund also sponsors Boys & Girls Club summer camp scholarships to several deserving elementary school students, enriching their lives through constructive play and leadership—opportunities they would otherwise not be able to experience. These scholarships are only realized through the generosity and continued support from our wonderful donors who desire to make a difference in our community as Jeff did.  The scholarship committee established an annual golf tournament to raise funds to make these scholarships possible.
