Mission Statement:
In an effort to honor the memory of Dr. Jeffrey R. Bartel, who was an advocate for higher education, we the committee of the fund intend to help ensure higher education to dedicated students through monetary means by awarding one student each year from Taunton High School a $7,500 scholarship towards his/her higher education. We hope that this will help deter the high cost of education for this student and give them support to further their dreams. The committee is confident that these students will return from school as outstanding community members and ensure the future of their communities.

Born and raised in Taunton, Jeffrey attended public schools which forged his foundation of excellence thru education. Dr. Bartel was a dedicated, lifetime learner. A graduate from Taunton High School in 1991, he continued his education at Union College in New York and then received his Doctorate at Boston University in Dentistry. He excelled in academics and athletics throughout his life. He demanded excellence in every aspect of his life. Unfortunately, his life was tragically cut short in his 30th year and his presence in this world will be greatly missed. We, the committee, intend to keep his memory alive by granting a scholarship to individuals who are serious about learning and look to improve his/her quality of life.
This Committee will award two Scholarships, one for $5,000 and one for $2,500. These scholarships will be granted to two graduating seniors from Taunton High School based on the following criteria:

Financial Need *** Ability to perform
Applications must be returned by April 30th, 2020 to the above address. A current transcript must accompany this application and the student must be available for an interview with the scholarship committee if requested.
